Field Project Engineer
Summary: Provides field project management, project engineering, applications engineering, research & development, and technology implementation support for the company. Initiates, plans, executes, monitors and controls, and closes field technology projects and experiments to optimize clean, effective, efficient, and safe operations. Using project management processes; creates, evaluates, tests, and implements innovative technology solutions. Performs field analysis, collaborating closely with other departments. Prepares and presents technical reports for management and senior leadership. Regularly meets with current and potential suppliers to review new technologies. Meets with customers to provide technology support as needed.
Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:
- Manages multiple simultaneous projects with competing priorities in various execution phases on a wide variety of applications
- Works collaboratively with multiple disciplines within teams and projects
- Ensures technology projects are delivered on-scope, on-time, and on-budget
- Initiates new projects by defining the project, developing a business case, identifying key stakeholders, and creating a project charter
- Plans technology projects by determining scopes, requirements, deliverables, costs, resources, schedules, and risks
- Executes technology projects by ensuring deliverables are completed
- Monitors and controls technology projects by tracking, reviewing, and regulating the performance of the project, identifying any areas in which changes to the plan are required; and initiating the corresponding changes
- Closes technology projects by archiving records, holding lessons learned sessions, closing out resources, and summarizing results
- Collaborates with operations, maintenance, HSE, accounting and other departments when implementing new technology innovations company-wide
- Oversees and supports day to day FracMD responsibilities
- Regularly works in the field
- Travel to various field locations and district offices as needed
Education and/or Experience
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or equivalent
- Must have strong computer skills with a good knowledge of Windows
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, technical skill, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- Sensitive to confidential and proprietary information.
- Able to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers, clients, and external contacts
- Able to learn company specific applications
- Fluid system knowledge, data analytics, equipment design and condition monitoring experience preferred
- 2-3 years in hydraulic fracturing or other relevant background preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Prefer Project Management Professional or Certified Associate in Project Management certificate
- Prefer PE license
- Valid Driver’s license or the ability to obtain one and a satisfactory driving record
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain friendly and effective contact with employees, vendors, customers of the company, members of the community, and employees of other affiliated companies, departments or divisions.
Works in varied environments and geographical areas and sometimes, in what may be considered harsh environments. Exposure to extreme temperatures, wind, precipitation, in addition to working at heights and chemicals may be experienced when working in the field or plant locations. They must be available seven days per week when on duty and is required to be reachable by telephone whenever the need arises.
